History

Apex Community Care (formerly the AIDS Project of Greater Danbury, APGD) is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization that has been serving Western Connecticut since the AIDS crisis began in the mid 1980’s. Founded by a group of local residents motivated by a passionate concern for people living with HIV/AIDS and the impact of the AIDS pandemic on the local community, the organization has helped thousands of local residents through their services.

In recent years, thanks to medical advances and the support of community-based organizations like APGD, HIV/AIDS has become a more manageable disease. While Apex continues its commitment to prevent HIV and to provide ongoing services to the community, the organization has expanded its scope to serve individuals living with substance use and mental illness and has rebranded as Apex Community Care (ACC).
