OUR
MISSION.
Our mission is to advocate for and provide services to people living with HIV/AIDS, mental health and substance use disorders, their families, and loved ones and to actively promote education and prevention in the community.
OUR
VISION.
We envision a world free of stigma and shame, where all people are treated with dignity and respect and their value as an individual is recognized and celebrated. We will work relentlessly and passionately to help those individuals who are disenfranchised and to create a more inclusive community.
You matter,
You are of value,
We can help.
Our success
Is measured by the
individuals we serve.
WE
Believe.
We believe that every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
We believe in the need to eliminate barriers so that individuals can receive the services and medication that they need in a manner that is culturally appropriate. Apex is committed to diversity, inclusion, and the creation of a safe, welcoming and reflective space for the people we serve. Apex does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual identification, gender expression or identity.
We believe that we need to meet our clients “where they are” and go from there.
We believe that we can help all individuals impacted by HIV, substance use and mental health disorders reach their full potential.
Apex Community Care
HISTORY

Apex Community Care (formerly the AIDS Project of Greater Danbury, APGD) is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization that has been serving Western Connecticut since the AIDS crisis began in the mid 1980’s. Founded by a group of local residents motivated by a passionate concern for people living with HIV/AIDS and the impact of the AIDS pandemic on the local community, the organization has helped thousands of local residents through their services.

In recent years, thanks to medical advances and the support of community-based organizations like APGD, HIV/AIDS has become a more manageable disease. While Apex continues its commitment to prevent HIV and to provide ongoing services to the community, the organization has expanded its scope to serve individuals living with substance use and mental illness and has rebranded as Apex Community Care (ACC).
